Were you surprised at Kerry and Brian's split?
Ciara Herlihy, Cork Ireland
Nicky Byrne: Yes. We neer expected it and it was a very sad day, especially
because children were involved. We spoke to them both when it happened and it
was obviously a tough time for them.
How do you feel about Brian now? Are you bitter about him leaving?
Claire, Manchester
Mark Feehily: We've never stopped being his friends and there's no bitterness
between us. We speak to him quite a lot and meet up whenever we're in th same
city. We wish him the best and hope he gets a break from all the negative things
that have been said about him recently. He's just trying to get on with his
life.
So will you tell us what really happened on Brian's stag night?
Jenny Lister, Southampton
Nicky: No. Next question.
If you could have a member of any other boy band to replace Brian, who would
you choose?
Rochelle, Chingford
Shane Filan: That's a good question. I'd say Brian Litrell from Backstreet Boys.
His voice is amazing, but he might struggle to keep up with the Westlife dance
moves!
If you were making a film of your lives, who would you like to play you?
Laura Woodhead, Worthing
Nicky: Brad Pitt - he's the best looking actor around. He's nearly as good-looking
as me! I think he's really cool.
What advice would you give to a future Westlife?
Eileen Baker, Nottingham
Kian Egan: Forget about it! Not really. I'd tell them: be honest, be nice to
people, listen to advice. Don't go into it acting like you know it all. When
we started out we took every piece of advice we were given. The most important
thing to remember is that it's all about the songs, not the people. The muic
is what makes people buy CDs.
What's the strangest thing you've been given by a fan?
Melissa, Darlaston
Shane: A raw turnip. It was in a really posh box with a ribbon, but it still
had muck on it. We get underwear thrown on stage a lot. When we were in South
Africa a girl threw a diamante G-string with her photo and phone number. We
took the mickey during the show, put the camera on her and read out her her
mobile number so that all the blokes could ring her.
What's the best thing about being famous?
Jaqueline Kerr, Glasgow
Kian: The money side of things obviously makes life easier - it's nice to be
able to take care of your family. Sometimes fame can be a hindrance, but when
we're together it's easier - we get perks like getting into clubs for free and
not having to queue at airports.
Do you play practical jokes on each other?
Sarah O'Connor, Cork, Ireland
Mark: I was in the shower the other day and Nicky put honey all over the floor,
trying to make me slip. It wasn't a very intelligent thing to do - I could've
broken my neck. We don't normally do practical jokes, it's more that we take
the piss out of each other.
Are you looking forward to taking part in the Pepsi Max Downloaded Competition?
Alison Keating, Norwich
Kian: Yes. the idea in that we do small intimate gigs in the home towns of competition
winners. The audiences at the gigs will only be 200-strong and the fans will
get involved and work with us for the day. Most of our gigs have been in huge
arenas, so we thought this would be a great thing to do.
Mark, you never seem to have a girlfriend. Do you enjoy playing the field or
are you secretly gay?
Sean, London
Mark: [Laughs] What reader sent that in? Basically I enjoy my life and don't
worry about relationships. I'm just having a really good time.
Do you watch shows like The X Factor?
Leigh Gooding, London
Kian: I like watching the early rounds when Simon Cowell takes the mickey out
of them. They're entertaining shows, but I think there are too many on TV now.
We'd probably have gone on in the early days, especially as we come from West
Ireland, which is quite remote. It would've been a good opportunity for us.
Nicky, your wife Georgina's sister is author Cecelia Ahern. Have you read any
of her books?
Gina Lewis, Bristol
Nicky: I don't usually read books and certainly not chick lit, but I read them
because it was her. I thought PS, I Love You was brilliant - I actually cried.
I'm in the middle of reading her second book Where Rainbows End. It's a great
read, completely different and intriguing. Georgina and Cecelia are very close
- she lives just round the corner from us.
What's playing on your iPods right now?
Anna Christensen, Holland
Nicky: Damien Rice's album O is on my CD player. I also like Over And Over by
Nelly and Tim McGraw,
Food or sex?
Jackie Hughes, Huddersfield
Shane: Both - I love sexy food
What's your favourite Westlife memory?
Cara Dearden, Clacton-On-Sea
Mark: We had two great weeks in LA a couple of Summers ago, making a video.
We lived it up out there, but after a fortnight we were sick of all the 'fakeness'
and were happy to go home to Ireland and sit in the pub.
If you could dine with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
Caroline, Kilmarnock
Shane: Tom Cruise because I think he's cool. But I wouldn't want an intimate
dinner with him. If it was a woman, I'd choose Marilyn Monroe - she was class.
What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?
Toni Miller, Gosport
Kian: We've worn some dodgy outfits in the past. For the first MTV awards we
went to, we had diamante all over our clothes.
Is there a rivalry between you and G4?
Paula Jones, London
Shane: Are you having a laugh? They're a nice bunch of lads, but they're nothing
to do with our kind of music. It's like comparing us to the Spice Girls.
PRIZE QUESTION!
Were you secretly pleased when Brian McFadden's album bombed?
Katie Harrison, Perth
Kian: I wouldn't say Brian's album bombed. It's hard for solo artists, especially
coming from something very successful. It takes time to build up a career and
you've got to give him a lot of credit - he's already had a No1 single. It's
unfair that people consider his album a failure. I really like his songs.
Catch Westlife, Girls Aloud, McFly, Natasha Bedingfield and Ms Dynamite on
