Chapter 1
"Welcome To The Dublin International Airport"
It’s the first thing which caught Catherine’s attention. After her 12-hour flight from Hong Kong to London, she’s so exhausted that she slept on the flight to Dublin - even it’s an hour flight only. Catherine was going to spend the next year studying her marketing degree in Dublin. She’s very excited cos it’s her first time to visit this county. She’s going to meet many friends and to have an exciting new life. Her host family, the Byrne family, was now waiting for her outside the gate. They were so happy to have a new ‘daughter’ this year cos their own daughter went to work in Manchester and wouldn’t come back so often. At around 1am in the morning, Catherine finally came out from the gate with her trolley which was fall of luggage. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Byrne! I’m Catherine from Hong Kong!" Catherine greeted the couple with a joyful smile. "Welcome to Dublin, Catherine! Welcome!" Mrs. Byrne, who’s in her early 50’s, gave her a hug. Mr. Byrne helped Catherine to take her luggage, and he said, "Let’s get home, have a shower and then have a nice sleep. I’ll show you around later!" "Thanks Mr. Byrne!" Catherine smiled. She thought she’s lucky to have a host family like this.

Catherine woke up at 10am the next morning. Her room was painted in blue, which’s her favourite color. She had breakfast with the Byrnes. They later went out to look around Dublin and came back in the evening. They met a woman next door when they just arrived. "Hello Julia! . Oh, is she Catherine?" That woman asked. "Hi Mairead! Yes, she is!" Mrs. Byrne turned to Catherine, "She’s Mrs. McFadden - our best neighbour." "Hello Mrs. McFadden!" "Hi Catherine! Let’s have dinner tonight! I’ve baked a cake!"
The McFadden family was then joined by the Byrnes and Catherine. There’re 2 children in the McFaddens - Bryan and Susan. Bryan’s already married with 2 lovely kids. Catherine was warmly welcome by Bryan, Kerry (Bryan’s wife) and Susan. They talked a lot about Dublin, and Bryan promised to be the tour guide for Catherine. They spent the whole evening in the McFadden house, and finally left at around 11pm cos Bryan’s kids had to go to sleep.

In the next few days, Catherine spent her time hanging out with Susan and Kerry. They went out for lunch or dinner. They had much fun. Bryan suggested one night, "Catherine, do you know Westlife?" Catherine shook her head, "Then you must come next week cos we’re gonna perform at the Lansdowne Road - it’s a great show!" Catherine later realized that Bryan’s in a boyband called Westlife. There’re 4 other members: Shane, Nicky, Mark and Kian. She’s introduced to them by Bryan when Westlife were doing the rehearsal. "Welcome to Dublin, Catherine." Nicky smiled and added, "My girlfriend also studied in the same university as you." When Catherine chatted to Nicky, she didn’t realize there’s a boy looking at her admiringly - He’s Kian who has blonde hair and cute blue eyes. He kept looking at her until Bryan whispered, "She’s pretty, isn’t she?"
"Oh Bry! Yes, she is!"
"You’ve been looking at her for over 15 minutes fancy her??"
"Haha!" Kian laughed nervously, "But she doesn’t know me."
"Then let her know you!" Bryan winked.

Chapter 2
Kian thought over and over again when he’s back to the hotel room. "How can I let her know me?" he wondered. Finally, he decided to get her number and text her. Catherine received 3 or 4 messages from Kian everyday, asking "How are you today?" or saying "Happy Wednesday!" She began to notice this guy who didn’t talk much when they first met at the rehearsal a few days ago. She texted him back, asking "Have lunch yet?" or "Busy with work?" Kian’s so delighted cos his plan seemed to work. A week later, he decided to ask her out. He thought she would say no cos she didn’t know him much. Surprisingly, Catherine said yes without thinking.

They had their first dinner in a nice restaurant in Dublin. Catherine wore a nice top with a pair of nice jeans. She also wore a little makeup which made her look more beautiful. Kian and Catherine chatted about everything during the dinner: their childhoods, their families, their interest in music, but she never mentioned Westlife - Kian felt so comfortable to be with her. They went to a pub afterwards and they danced a little. Kian later drove Catherine home. When they were near to Byrne’s house, Kian looked at Catherine and said, "Thanks so much for coming tonight. It’s my best date ever!" "So do I! Thanks for inviting me, Kian!" She smiled sweetly. Kian took her hands softly and moved closer, tilting his head to the side, and she did the same until their lips touched.

It’s very natural but romantic. That’s how Kian and Catherine started going out. Bryan’s the most excited when he knew they were dating. "You should thank me, Kian! If I didn’t introduce her to you, if I didn’t encourage you ." Cathy, that’s what Kian called her, spent all her time with him in the whole summer. Of course she needed to prepare for her new school life 3 months later, but she still found time to chill out. She visited the Egan family back in Sligo for 2 weeks. Colm, Kian’s little brother, loved Cathy so much that he always followed her around. Kian joked, "Colm is the shadow of Cathy." Cathy taught Colm how to bake apple cakes; she talked about fashion with Marielle, Kian’s youngest sister. Kian’s parents love this young lady very much too. Cathy became the angel in the Egan family. Colm was so upset when Cathy left Sligo. "Don’t cry Colm. I’ll be back soon, I promise! We’ll make a big apple cake, ok?"

Once Cathy headed back to Dublin, she saw her photos with Kian in the newspaper, saying "Westlife hunk dating a Chinese lady". She phoned Kian immediately, "Kian, what happened? What should I do now?"
"Cool down first! We were dogged out last night. But don’t worry, they’ll know someday."
"How about the fans?"
"Don’t worry, baby! They’re the best fans in the world; they won’t do anything bad to us. Trust me!"
Kian’s right cos the fans were so supportive to the new Westlife couple. "See Cathy, I’d told you not to be worried!" Kian said while he’s packing for Cathy who’s going to start her university the next day. "But I’m afraid my classmates would say something behind my back " Kian came and gave her a hug. He kissed her and said, "No! They wouldn’t! They’ll do that only because they’re jealous about how sweet we are. Don’t worry much, ok? Just enjoy your new school life. Promise me!" "OK!" Cathy hugged him back.

Cathy’s been spending her time in the university for nearly 2 months, and thank to God, everything’s going just fine. She made a few good mates there and they seldom talked about her relationship with Kian or Westlife. They treated her like a normal student - it made Cathy relieved. But there’s a female classmate who looked at her strangely. Cathy felt so uncomfortable and later she’s pretty scary cos she found that girl, who’s called Monica, always looked at her in a jealous way. Cathy’s too frightened but she didn’t tell Kian - she didn’t want him to worry much since he’s busy with promoting their new single.

Chapter 3
Today’s 20th birthday of Catherine. It’s her first time to spend her great day outside Hong Kong and without her parents. Kian organized a birthday party for her at the afternoon, so that they could be left alone at night. They were now lying on the beach - it’s quite cool outside cos it’s already late October. Cathy’s looking at the sky and shouted,
"Oh, Kian! Look! Look at the sky!!! The stars are very beautiful!"
"Which ones?"
"There!" Cathy pointed at the sky, "That two which are next to each there! They’re shining brightly!"
"Ok, I get them for you now!" Kian ran away quickly.
"Kian, where are you going?"
After a few minutes, Kian’s back with a little box. "Close your eyes first!"
"What do you wanna do, Kian?"
"Just close your eyes. I’ve got a birthday gift for you."
Cathy closed her eyes and she felt Kian taking her hands.
"Ok, you can now open your eyes."
Cathy’s so shocked when she saw Kian getting down on one knee. "Oh my god! Kian, you ."
"Cathy, sorry I can’t get the stars for you now, but I think this is as shiny as them."
Kian opened the little box and said, "Cathy, you’re the best girl that I’ve never met. I don’t wanna spend the rest of my life with other girls cos all I want is you!" He paused and took a deep breath, "Cathy, would you marry me?"
Cathy was in great shock that she didn’t know what to do - her eyes filled with tears.
"Oh Gosh Is it real, Kian?"
"Yes, the diamond is real!" Kian laughed.
"Oh no .don’t take the mick of me "
"Hunny, I promise I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life. I’ll do anything you want me to - even for the stars above I’ll get them for you if you want me to. Cathy?"
"Oh Kian," Cathy nodded, "Yes I would marry you! Yes!"
Kian put the ring on her finger and gave her a sweet kiss. "I’m the luckiest and happiest man in the world now!" Kian smiled.
"But how about the stars?"
"Hmm .let me write down our names on them, then we can meet every night."
"Ok! I wanna to be the brightest one!" Cathy laughed.

Being engaged with Kian was the best thing ever happened to Cathy. She’d never imagined that her life changed a lot in the last few months. But she’s happy with the way she’s leading to. She felt happy being with Kian. She phoned her parents that she’s going to marry the best man she’s ever met, and surprisingly, Kian’s already asked Cathy’s dad for permission. Cathy joined Westlife when she had no school. The fans were very happy about the engagement. It really made Cathy comfortable. But her classmate Monica looked at her in a more jealous way after the engagement was announced. They never talked before. Monica just stared at her every time when they met in school. Cathy had no ideas why Monica acted like that. She decided not to tell Kian cos it’s not a very great trouble - Monica might be jealous about her relationship with Kian.

In the evening on 11th November, Westlife held their album launch party at St Martin’s Lane Hotel. All their families and friends were there, except Cathy who was suffering from a stomachache. Kian’s sitting beside her bed,
"I’m fine Kian. Go and enjoy your party downstairs. I’ll come down once I feel better."
"But I can’t leave you alone in the room "
"Westlife can’t party without you!"
Kian smiled, "Ok! I’ll come to see you after taking photos. Do you wanna watch TV?"
"Oh yes! I don’t like staying in a quiet room."
"See ya later love." Kian gave Cathy a kiss. "Call me if you don’t feel well."
"Yes Sir!" she smiled, "Go and enjoy the party!"
Kian kissed her once again and left the room. Cathy took some pills before and now she felf sleepy. She lay on the bed and took a rest. Suddenly someone knocked the door, Cathy woke up and thought it must be Kian. She opened the door - she couldn’t believe it’s Monica standing in front of her.
"Monica? Where are you here?"
Monica didn’t reply - she just stared at Cathy as she did.
"Monica? Are you ok?" Monica finally spoke,
"I’m more than ok!" - All of a sudden, Cathy felt something was put inside her belly. She looked at Monica who’s smiling like she’s own a game. Then Cathy looked at her belly - there’s a knife! Monica smiled at her again and ran away - leaving Cathy’s bleeding with a knife on her belly. Cathy now felt the pain, "Oh Kian ..Kian .." She’s lying against the wall and she’s bleeding so hard. She couldn’t see the thing clearly - all the things were blurred - and then were black. She fainted. 15 minutes later Cathy was sent to hospital when a hotel staff discovered her lying on the floor. The hotel manager recognized she’s Kian’s fiancée that he phoned him immediately.
"Hello?"
"Mr. Egan, I’m John Nash from St. Martin Lane Hotel. Our staff found your fiancée bleeding outside the room, so we sent her to hospital."
"What? I can’t here you .Hold on ..Sorry the music’s too loud .What’s wrong?"
"Your fiancée was attacked and she’s bleeding outside the room. She’s now in hospital."
There’s a silence from another side.
"Hello? Mr. Egan?? Are you still here?"
"You said Cathy’s in hospital now? Nah! You must be kidding."
"No Mr. Egan!" She’s now in hospital. She’s hurt quite badly, I’m afraidHello????"
Kian hung off the phone and rushed out immediately. "Kian! Kian! Where are you going?" Shane shouted. "Kian! Wait!" He ran after behind Kian. The guests were shocked by Kian and Shane, Bryan then came on stage and joked, "Ahem, sorry! They’re rushing to the loo! Let’s dance again!" But, obviously, he’s worried about what they did.

Kian and Shane were now in the hospital - Cathy was here. The nurse said Cathy was attacked by a long knife. Her stomach was seriously damaged. Kian sat down on the floor desperately - he couldn’t believe what he just heard. Shane sat next to Kian and said, "Don’t worry! She’ll be fine!"
"How do you know? You’re the doctor?"
Kian stood up and hit the wall with his head. "Why did it happen to her? WHY?"
"Cool down Kian! Cool down!" Shane gave his brother a hug - and Kian cried.
"Mr. Egan?"
"Yes! I am!"
"I’m Doctor Carter and I treat Catherine. She’s attacked by a long knife which made her stomach was seriously damaged .She lost much blood which now makes her very very weak. We’ve tried to give her blood," Doctor Carter paused, "but sadly, it doesn’t work! We’ve tried our best, Mr. Egan. I’m very sorry!"
"What .what do you mean?"
"I’m sorry, Mr. Egan. She’s seriously hurt before being sent to hospital - she’s dying!"

Time had suddenly stopped when Kian heard the words ‘She’s dying’. He looked at Shane whose eyes filled with tears, and asked, "What does he mean?? What does he mean? Shane??? She’s dying??? No! No!!!....There must be some mistake .." Kian ran to the room but Shane stopped him, "Kian! Listen! Doctor said Cathy’s dying cos she lost much blood! There’s no mistake!" Kian looked at Shane again, "No! No! ...... Cathy . My Cathy . She’s dying?? She’s only 20! No .." Kian sobbed his heart out while Shane’s standing beside him crying.
"Mr. Egan? Catherine’s awake." A nurse said.
There’s a light in Kian’s eyes, "She’s awake?" He rushed to the room which Cathy stayed. There were machines and tubes around Cathy. He sat down on a chair next to the bed. "Cathy," Kian held her hands close to his heart, "you’ll be alright!"
"You’ve cried " Cathy smiled weakly.
"I worry about you."
"No! I’m fine. Kianwould you promise me."
"Hunny, I promise you everything after you leave hospital. Don’t talk too much now."
"No! Kian .promise me to be strong." Cathy looked at Kian with a smile.
"Yes, I promise you that! Baby, take a rest and we chat tomorrow."
"I see the starsKian, can you see them?" Cathy stared at the ceiling.
"Yes, they’re beautiful!"
"The stars with our names "
"Cathy."
She looked at Kian, "I love you, Kian."
"I love you too, Cathy. I really love you!" Kian’s eyes filled with tears again.
"Don’t be sad you don’t have to .."
"Cathy ..no" He kissed her hand and held it against his cheek.
"We’ll meet every night .." She tried to finish her words, ".cos we’re ..written in the stars."
She gave her last smile to Kian. He nodded and said, "Sure we will, we will, Cathy!"

A year later..
Kian bought a bunch of red rose - which’s Cathy’s favourite flower - and sat beside her tombstone. "Cathy, you know what?" Kian smiled, "Colm finally makes an apple cake himself. He’s very excited! Poor us have apple cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But it tastes good." He continued, "Westlife’s new album will be out next week our new single went straight to UK No1 again. Oh yes, and our tour will start early next year. This time I’ll go to Hong Kong - I’ll visit your parents." Kian looked at the sky - it’s already 5pm in the evening. "Monica asked me to visit her in prison, but I rejected." Kian sighed, "I don’t wanna see her face! Never!" Kian touched the tombstone softly, "Cathy, as I promised you in your birthday last year, I finally bought two stars. They’re very bright and they’re close to each other - just like you and me." Kian smiled, "I named them Cathy&Kian We’ll meet every night, Cathy, cos our names are now written in the stars!" It’s already sunset, and Kian left the graveyard. He looked at the sky and he could clearly see that there were two stars shining brightly - they’re Cathy&Kian - and they’ll be there forever.
