Once upon a time, men were still men, women were still virgins and sex was still sexy. In this time, it was the time when Queen Victoria reigned; five heroes lived in the United Kingdom. Every day they saved and rescued some friends from prison and helped them to escape the military.
Once, it was in April 1842, I remember, those heroes saved a young man who had to go to prison because he loved a young lady who was promised to a prince.
The heroes - they are called Shane, Mark, Nicky and Bryan - arranged his flight with a small boat to France. The young lady called Gillian was with them to see her boyfriend one last time.
In the middle of the night, it was the time for the boy Jonathan to leave England. Gillian stood on the beach crying strongly. She knew it was the best for Jonathan now, but also she had to marry that prince she hated, but if she did not, she would have had to die. So what should she do? It was a dilemma! Yes, of course, she could choose the easy way and follow Jonathan, but then her father would have to die, ‘coz he couldn’t keep the promise he had made. She would not do that, especially not to her mum who she really loved. And so she decided to stay and submitted to her fate.
She had stood on the beach for over an hour after Jonathan had gone. Then our hero Shane stepped behind her and asked for bringing her home. Gillian nodded underneath the tears, running out of her eyes. They took their horses and brought Gillian to the house she lived in with her mum and dad.
Weeks went by and Shane was always sitting around and thinking of one - Gillian. It was about one day before her marriage with Patrice, the prince, when she rode onto the clearing where Bryan, Nicky, Kian, Mark and of course also Shane had their camp. Nicky and Bryan were out for chasing, Mark and Kian were visiting a friend. So Gillian found Shane, who always liked it most to sit in the middle of the clearing and try to make fire.
"Shane!" she shouted loudly. He turned round and when he saw her face, his heart right bet a bit higher than it did before.
"Gillian, hi, what are you doing here?"
"I can’t marry Patrice. You have to help me. Please!"
"Yes, of course, I’ll help you, but what should I do? Do you want to follow Jonathan?"
Gillian shook her head. "No, he found another one. He is not so slowly. I received his letter this morning!" Tears ran all over her face, Shane took her in his arms and kissed the tears away.
The next day - it was Gillian’s wedding day - she took her cape and sat on her horse.
(I don’t wanna talk about what had happened
that night, but I suppose everyone who’s got a fantasy, can imagine!)
Anyway, when Gillian came home, her
father stood in front of the house and looked quite angry.
"Where have you been, you nasty slut" I promised to Prince Patrice that he would marry you as a virgin and now you slept with one of those………those guys! If he doesn’t want you anymore now, as I can understand, do you know how much money would pass me by?"
"You want to sell me like a… I don’t know what, a corn? To a man I don’t love? Just for having money you are doing that to me?"
"Your mother and I also had a marriage without love! We are happy now and so you’ll stay alive, too. Now, go inside and put your dress on."
Underneath tears Gillian went inside her room where her mum was just waiting to help her with the dress.
"I can’t marry today, Mum."
"Stop yelling now, Gillian, don’t get your father angrier than he is right now."
From that moment on, Gillian was quiet and hoped that Shane and his friends were coming to rescue her.
But they didn’t. Time got later and later. Until the moment came, when Gillian had to leave for the ceremony nothing happened.
What she couldn’t have known: Patrice’s people had come to the clearing and took Shane to arrest him in the dungeon.
There he sat down and waited for his death. It seemed to be clear that he would never see Gillian again.
Suddenly a white dove appeared at the window and let fall a little letter. Shane smiled. The next moment, a big bang was heard and the walls around Shane fell together. He sat on his horse and rode fast to the cathedral. The ceremony had just begun. The priest in front of Gillian said slowly and with a quiet voice: "Yes I will and God helps me."
She cried and was so happy to see Shane. In a complicated confusion Shane, Nicky, Bryan, Mark and Kian checked it out to take Gillian.
They rode down to the beach and shipped to France where they lived their whole life together.
Shane put the book away and looked deeply into Gillian’s eyes. "I love you", he said quietly.
"I love you, too," She answered and they kissed very long and romantically.
This is the historical story how Shane found his Gillian!
(Contradictory is just that BRYAN wrote that song for KERRY and not SHANE for GILLIAN, but it is so easy to change the names. *ggg*)
